Tamron SP 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 Di II LD
With the advent of APS-C sensors for digital reflex cameras, the concept of ultra large zoom has been reimagined. At the time of 35mm films, a lens offered a 17mm visual field made its excellent work, but in the APS-C sensor sector, this no longer represents a particularly large angle. Tamron was one of the first manufacturers to adopt Ultra Wide optics for teleobietivocampors with sub-fracture sensor, introducing the lens SP 10-24mm F 3.5-4.5. With a focal length and a maximum opening, the new lens is slightly larger and heavier, but has a lower price than 11-18mm. On a sub-fracture camera, the lens provides an equivalent visual field of 16-38mm on Canon, or 15-36mm on other manufacturers. It is mounted and also works on full frame cameras, even if the vignetting is intense up to 15mm. This is not a '' constant '' lens, since by increasing the focal length, both the maximum opening and the minimum decrease. The Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 is supplied with a petal-shaped catering, 77mm filters holder and is sold at a price of around € 450. In most cases the Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 is a clear lens with very good Wide Open performance. There is a '' weak area '' in the center, compensated by a significant softness towards the corners. By enlarged the lens on 24mm, the sharpness decreases considerably. The worst result is at 18-20mm, where the average sharpness is about 3-4 blur units. Tamron has optimized the lens for wide angle use, which makes sense, given that the 10mm focal length is its strength. The best results with this lens therefore come if used as a wide angle even at full opening. Above 13mm it is necessary to stop at f/5.6 or even f/8 for optimal sharpness.
