Internal button procedure to check the shutter count

Turn off the camera.
While holding down the MENU button, turn it on:
- When the screen lights up, release the MENU button.
- Press the MENU button once more.
Go to the Setup Menu (last line, the one with the wrench icon).
Enter the LCD Brightness setting (third line).
On the screen where you adjust brightness, press INFO, then OK. The display will go black and show the camera model name.
Then press, in this exact order: Up, Down, Left, Right, Shutter, Up.
You’ll see the first of three information pages, which you can scroll through with the arrow keys.
- On page 2, you’ll find the shutter count, labeled as SM or R.
- The S value shows the number of flash activations, and U indicates the number of ultrasonic sensor cleanings.
