Thanks to the autofocus system with Dual Syncro Drive you can focus images from zero to perfect sharpness in a single instant, precisely and absolutely silently. This extreme autofocus performance is due to the driving system specifically designed to guarantee maximum speed. The limits are represented only by the size of the optical elements to be moved to focus, by the distance between infinite value and minimum distance for focusing and by the space available.
With a starting aperture of f/2, the lenses of the Summicron SL series have more compact dimensions when compared to brighter optics, while maintaining similar depths of field. The area of maximum contrast is in fact perceived as sharp, while those with minimum contrast are considered unclear.
