The Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical is a wide-angle lens, produced by the Korean company since 2009, is suitable for FF and APSC format cameras, and is also compatible with a large number of brands. Focusing is manual only and there is no shooting aid such as image stabilization. The shooting angle, one of the fundamental factors for choosing a wide-angle lens, is 114.2 and the minimum focusing distance is 28 centimetres. The lens hood is supplied, weight and dimensions are in line with lenses of the same category. The materials with which it is built are of good quality, capable of making it resistant and not excessively plasticky. The images are quite sharp even at RT, notable distortions are found which however can be easily removed in PP. No significant chromatic aberration but there is the possibility of flare. The control rings are decidedly fluid and precise. The Samyang 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Aspherical is a lens with performance suitable for non-professional use. It can be considered a clone of the most performing models from other brands, nevertheless it could be considered an excellent investment, given the excellent quality/price ratio, to increase your photographic kit or to start experimenting with shots from a new perspective. The cost when new is really accessible to everyone, but those who want to save money can easily look for a used one and get it at a lower price.
