Canon EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM

The Canon EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM is a fixed lens compatible for APSC and FF. Even though production was stopped in 2002, it is a very popular lens due to its particular diaphragm, the 1.0 is in fact a gem that portraiture lovers dream of! Being a very bright lens it is possible to use it even in poorly lit contexts, without grainy or losing details. Not surprisingly, for some it is comparable to the 85mm 1.2 but with a larger aperture. The bokeh is the element that surprises the most: homogeneous, soft and delicate, it manages to detail any photo with its elegant character. The only feature you need to think about is how difficult it is to find replacement parts if it breaks down. Since it is out of production, you need to think carefully before buying it used. Having a technology that is almost 20 years old, ultrasonic focusing is slightly slow so it is best to use the lens only for posed subjects. Image stabilization is also not present so it requires a higher technique for perfect image management. Ultimately, the price is very high and this could represent a deterrent as there is the 50mm 1.2 which costs much less. Ideal for amateur and professional photographers looking for a super bright lens for their portraits. Being a light and compact lens, it can complete any photographic kit while guaranteeing top quality.
