Tokina AT-X Pro DX 11-16 F2.8 ASPH is a wide-angle lens designed for cameras with an APS-C (DX) format sensor. the lens in question, now out of production, was launched on the market in 2007 and was left on the market for only five years. The optics enjoy excellent construction quality: the coating is made of excellently made polycarbonate, while the zoom mechanism is made of metal; the finish it has is very reminiscent of that used for some Nikkor lenses and has the ability to give a pleasant appearance. Like every lens produced by this Japanese company, the 11-16mm uses a micromotor for automatic focusing. The focusing is quite fast and not completely silent but the noise it produces is not annoying. In most lenses, switching between AF and MF is done via a small switch. In the optics in question, on the contrary, the transition is made via a clutch mechanism: you simply need to snap the focus ring forward to use autofocus and back towards the lens mount if instead you want to take photographs in manual mode. To keep chromatic aberration under control, the lens uses two low dispersion glass elements and two aspherical glasses which, at the same time, ensure high contrast and sharpness.
