The Nikon AF 50mm f/1.4 D is a standard fixed focal lens produced from 1995 to 2011 and therefore currently out of production, suitable for FF and APSC format cameras. Focusing is automatic and occurs via the camera's internal AF motor, image stabilization is absent. The shooting angle is 46.8 degrees and the minimum focusing distance is 45 centimetres. The lens hood is sold separately. The weight and dimensions are consistent with all lenses of this focal length, thanks to this it is comfortable, practical and well balanced, easily usable in long sessions. The images taken are of good quality, have sharpness and faithful color rendering. Distortions and aberrations are almost absent, while there is a drop in RT performance. The AF motor is noisy and not very precise, probably also due to the age of the support.
The Nikon AF 50mm f/1.4 D is a lens suitable for various photographic genres, but like most similar lenses, its strong point is portraits. brightness and sharpness make it very pleasant. It can be useful for both amateur and professional photographers and is very simple to use. The cost when new, although difficult to find, is already affordable; currently it is very easy to buy it used and thus save a considerable amount. It can be considered a good compromise to increase your photographic kit.
