How to Check the Shutter Count of Your DSLR or Mirrorless Camera
Before selling your DSLR or mirrorless camera to us, make sure to check its shutter count. Based on the brand, you’ll find the correct method below.
Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and Pentax

Internal camera button sequence:

Turn off the camera.

While holding down the MENU button, turn the camera on:

When the display lights up, release the MENU button

Press the MENU button once again

Access the Setup Menu (last line, wrench icon)

Select LCD Brightness (third line)
-
In the brightness adjustment screen, press INFO then OK; the screen turns black and displays the camera model

Press in sequence: UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, SHUTTER, UP

You’ll access the first of 3 information pages. Use the arrow keys to browse.

Page 2 shows the shutter count (marked as SM or R)

S indicates flash activations
-
U shows ultrasonic sensor cleanings

Insert an SD card

Make sure the camera is in single-shot mode

Press simultaneously: ON + AF/AE LOCK + PLAY icon

Then press twice in succession: PLAY icon + MENU/SET + LEFT arrow

The shutter count is listed as SHTCNT
GH3 / GH4

Insert an SD card

Make sure the camera is in single-shot mode

Press simultaneously: ON + AF/AE LOCK + DISP (display)

Then press twice in succession: AF/AE LOCK + MENU/SET + LEFT arrow

Look for SHTCNT
GX-80 / GX-85

Insert an SD card

Press simultaneously: WB + PLAY icon + AF/AE LOCK + ON

Repeat twice: LEFT arrow + MENU/SET + AF/AE LOCK

Look for SHTCNT

Insert an SD card

Make sure the camera is in Aperture Priority Mode (A)

Take a photo

Turn the camera off

Press simultaneously: PLAY icon + AF/AE LOCK + ON

Go to: MENU -> SETTINGS (wrench icon) -> PAGE 5 -> “ERR CODE DISP”

Press MENU/SET again

Look for SHTCNT
