The Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-90 f/2.8-4 ASPH is a device with a quadrangular setup capable of offering a wide range of focal lengths and zooms. It ranges from telephoto to close focus of 30cm. At the same time, OIS (optical image stabilization) compensates for up to 3.5 stops of motion. The speed of focusing is ensured by the fact that the camera is made up of 18 elements divided into six mobile groups, of which only one, extremely light, supports focusing with a simple movement. Eleven others are designed to correct chromatic alterations, while four are aspheric lenses. Precisely for this reason the focusing is really silent, very fast and precise thanks to linear positioning and a special motor. This way, when you change the focus, the overall length of the lens does not change. At the same time, the device integrates a special rectangular-shaped lens hood, so as to prevent reflections and alterations of the light. Furthermore, field distortions, even partial ones, are eliminated. The structure and design of the camera makes this model extremely versatile and adaptable to the most disparate contexts and methods of use. In fact, the lens can work in various lighting conditions, always guaranteeing the clarity of the images, even in the most difficult situations. The rear and front elements are coated with Leica's AquaDura water-repellent coating that repels dust, moisture and weather for a watertight seal.
