The Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L USM super telephoto lens has represented a real point of reference in this product category for several years. Produced by the Japanese brand between 1991 and 1999, it was highly requested by photography experts due to its focusing via ultrasonic AF motor, despite the absence of image stabilization.
Regarding its construction, solid and resistant materials are used which, while ensuring considerable robustness, make it quite heavy; Precisely for this reason, it is more suitable for stalking photographs rather than freehand ones.
The real strong point of the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8 L USM lens is found in the speed and reliability of the automatic focus which is combined with its limiter which allows you to take excellent quality shots. Precisely because it is a telephoto lens, it ensures remarkable sharpness of the images especially with regards to wide angles: the quality of the shot is truly surprising if you try to take a photo under the open sky. Allows you to preset autofocus from a specific distance when specific shooting conditions require it. The image quality is good even when the lighting is not particularly sufficient, making this lens also suitable for nature photography. Ultimately, despite being a dated product, it continues to perform its functions with reasonable success.
