Compatible with full frame and APS-C DSLRs, it has a focal length of up to 500 mm while maintaining an aperture of f/4. The arrangement of the 11 o'clock in 9 groups is excellent, while the minimum focusing distance stands at excellent values of 4.4 meters in manual and 4.6 meters in automatic. In this regard, autofocus management is entrusted to the most advanced Ring-USM technique, i.e. a ring ultrasonic motor. The adoption of a similar AF motor allows for very high performance with maximum accuracy, all in absolute silence. It excels in image quality, color fidelity and sharpness while keeping vignetting and distortion to a minimum, while the bokeh effect is remarkable. Considering the destination of a similar product, professional or enthusiast, therefore the use purely on a tripod or stationary, it does not have VR optical stabilization, thus gaining in lightness and reducing the weight to 3.4 kg.
